Mom, Linds and Meek Visit!

This past week, Brock was in South Africa for the international business part of his MBA, and Linds thought that it would be a perfect time to come down and visit us for a few days! She wanted some company to make the long drive with her and the kids, so she talked my mom and Meek into coming down as well! We had a couple of hitches in our closing plans for the house, so unfortunately, we are not in it yet, so they had to cram into our apartment to stay! They got in on Tuesday evening, and we played some games and ate some tasty peach cobbler, and of course went swimming! Well, let me clarify. Andy and Dane went swimming, and the girls sat in the hot tub. It was late enough that the water wasn't very warm, so we let Andy take one for the team. Dane was shivering, but he insisted that he wasn't cold so he could keep swimming. "I'm warm!" he said through chattering teeth.

On Wednesday, we went to the park and played on the swings and in the sand. We met up with Addi and her boys at the park, and I think that Daner had fun playing with them.
I had to go to a meeting in the afternoon for work, so the girls went to the Chandler Mall to check it out while I was there. After, we had a night of Skipbo and movies. On Thursday, I worked all day, so the crew went to the pool for the day. We went to Joe's BBQ for dinner and went to play at the Gilbert splash pad after. Dane was hilarious. He wanted to fill his diaper with water to make it "squishy," so he sat on the fountains. Andy even helped Campbell to play in the water. She wasn't as excited about getting wet, but it was really fun.

On Friday, we went to the Phoenix Zoo for the morning. Andy ditched class to come with us! He had a super busy week, so he had to study for most of the time, and we were excited that he took a morning off to hang out with us! The zoo is pretty good. Unfortunately, the rhino was under medical supervision, and that is the one animal that Dane was really excited to see. Maybe next time. We did, however, get to feed the elephants! We got there at a perfect time, and they were passing out carrots for us to throw into the elephant habitat to feed them. Pretty fun!

After that, we went to the Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale to go to H&M. We got lost a few times while we were trying to find various stores, but we found them all! We made homemade pizzas when we got home and went to Bahama Buck's for dessert. When we pulled up, there were 2 fire trucks in the parking lot, and the firemen were nice enough to let Dane and Linds up into the truck to have a look. Dane was SO excited. He had a huge grin on his face the whole time. I think it was the highlight of his trip.

After that, we went to show Linds and Meek our new house! We hopefully close on it next week! When the kids got into bed, we played another few rounds of Skipbo. Mom and I had terrible luck the whole week with that game. I hope she keeps playing! Andy had a perfect record, I think. Maybe Mom just needed another partner :) The crew left this morning after Dane watched Land Before Time IX for the fifth time. We were so happy to have them come down and visit! And I hope that the drive is tolerable enough that they will come down to visit again soon! Love you guys!
